In this powerful episode of Schmoozing Time, I sit down with Jared Armstrong—professional basketball player, proud Israeli citizen, and founder of JAB Camp. Jared opens up about his journey navigating identity as a Black Jew, the fight for his citizenship in Israel, and the adversity he's faced both in life and in sports.
We dive into his passion for creating change beyond the court—especially through JAB Camp, which equips young athletes with not only elite basketball training, but also crucial life skills like financial literacy, cultural education, and resilience. Jared also shares why he believes athletes have a responsibility to use their platforms for community empowerment, and how he’s challenging the narrative around wealth and success in the sports world.
Jared Armstrong is a professional basketball player currently playing for Hapoel Eilat in Israel. Born in Philadelphia, he has used his platform to address racial inequality and build bridges between communities. Through his global influence, he founded JAB CAMP, a high-caliber basketball program for youth ages 6-14, integrating educational and leadership curricula covering topics such as financial literacy, nutrition, and education on combating antisemitism and racism.
