In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with my friend Rob Lawless, whose mission since 2015 has been to meet 10,000 new people, one conversation at a time. What started as a personal challenge has turned into a beautiful movement around the power of intentional connection and saying yes to strangers who could end up becoming lifelong friends.

Rob and I reflect on our first meeting in 2018—when I became the 1,000th person on his journey—and how that single connection sparked a ripple effect.

We dove into his leap from the corporate world at Deloitte to the unknown of full-time connection-making—a journey filled with courage, sacrifice, and powerful self-discovery.

Rob spoke candidly about the ups and downs: the financial unknowns, the judgments from others, and the internal battles that come with building something unconventional. But he also spoke about the joy, the lessons, and the countless moments that have affirmed this path. His story is a reminder that purpose doesn’t always come with a paycheck—it’s often revealed through presence, persistence, and people.

Rob has discovered that across all the thousands of people he’s met, there's a universal desire to feel seen, valued, and connected.
