Episode 107 - Plant-Powered Change: Transforming Diets for Animal Rights and Human Health | Kiggundu Ronald Reagan
Maggy's podcast guest of episode 107 is the co-founder and team coordinator of the Non Profit Organization Avacuganda - Kiggundu Ronald Reagan.
Kiggundu is advocating for a plant-based food system that brings animal and human rights to the same level. He started his work for Avacuganda and other NGOs, because he knows about the increasing number of lifestyle diseases. Kiggundu's father died from diabetes and this loss guided him towards a more plant-based approach for health reasons. As a medical practitioner he now supports people in Uganda learning about healthier food choices while sharing the animal's rights to live a happy life.

Driven by passion, Avacuganda published a research paper highlighting the weaknesses of the "Prevention of Cruelty Act" in protecting farmed animals, especially hens, during transportation and housing. Today the NGO connects with leaders from the poultry association of Uganda to support farmers in the policy reform.

Avacuganda is one of the NGOs listed in the Voting-Tool on the SANUSAPP in March.
If you want to know more about this organization, check out their website under https://avacuganda.org/
