One of my favorite things about chatting with runners like me is making friends and getting to cheer them on whatever goals they set for themselves. My friend Jessie Baldwin set her sights on the Eagle up 50k, her first ultra marathon, just two weeks after her very first marathon.
I spoke with Jessie in episode 10 where we talked about her running and fitness journey, and about crushing perceptions about what runners should look like. Jessie is absolutely inspiring me to push toward my goals and reminds me that the finish line is what you make it, as long as you get there. In the race recap she shares about her struggles to complete the 50k, both physical and mental. And the amazing thing to me was how getting to the finish line has empowered her to not only want to complete another 50k in the future, but push for other goals. She's starting to work on her speed to PR the upcoming Columbus Half Marathon. And yes, I am hoping for yet another race recap there!
