I really am so happy to share this conversation I had with Sara Moyer, runner and special events manager for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, an organization very near and dear to my family. Sara and I talk about how she rediscovered running at the very beginning of the pandemic, and how she found her dream job at Alex’s lemonade that combines her love of athletic events and her desire to help end cancer. We also get into what about charity athletic events just generate so much excitement and enthusiasm, and dare I say optimism.
Sara has always been involved in sports. Her favorite thing to do is to be out and active so it was natural for her to fall into step again with running when she found herself battling chest pains in March 2020 and the only cure was running; she’s been run-streaking since!
Sara coordinates Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s special fundraising events. When she was in college, Sara’s friend lost his battle with glioblastoma. She ran a local race created in his honor and that helped shape and pave a way for her career when she later joined ALSF.
We talk a lot about different athletic events that ALSF has to help fundraise research to fight childhood cancer, and help families with children battling cancer get the help and treatment they need for their children.
