Today I spoke with Jessie Baldwin who just ran her very first marathon two days before we spoke, and is going for 50k two weeks later. I really appreciated Jessie’s candor when it came to sharing her experiences as a bigger runner and in breaking perceptions about runner bodies.
Jessie was very open in sharing about motherhood, her borderline personality disorder, gastric bypass surgery, and motivation to begin running despite apprehension and fear of judgement. Jessie runs and trains with Marathoner in Training (MIT) in Columbus, OH, a city with a very robust and vibrant running community. Through MIT, she found a safe space where she feels supported in any endeavor she takes on and off the trails. And now she's officially a marathoner!
