Somali-American role model and activist Halima Aden is remarkable. On this very inspiring episode, she tells Leomie what it was like being photographed in the arms of white celebrities as a baby in Africa, why her mother smashed her homecoming crown and after a highly publicised exit, why she walked away from fashion at the peak of her career.
Halima Aden was born and raised in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, where her family fled to escape the civil war. After landing in the US, Halima began blazing her trail, becoming the first Muslim model to wear a hijab in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant, which led to covers on Allure, Teen Vogue and British Vogue.
