In the most trying of situations, we oftentimes find the most comfort and support from our friends. We construct our social ecosystems carefully by hand selecting those that fulfill our various needs. From short-term acquaintances we see for humor, light fun and socializing, to long-term pillars of strength who help navigate us through the loss of a loved one, friendships are the gold in our lives. They are the gold that we choose, not a relation by genetics. Cherish them and nurture them. Your friends have your back, not stab you in yours. Let your intuition guide you for a gut check to filter our those that do not enhance your life. It will be the greatest gift you give yourself.
