Ernie talks about moving from Los Angeles to the California Central Valley and utilizing sports as a way to connect with his peers. After a stellar high school football and baseball career at Reedley High School Ernie continued his football career as a quarterback for Reedley College then on to Chico State. After college, Ernie became a high school educator and Junior College football coach for Reedley College. After recognizing a local talent at a football game, he successfully recruited Firebaugh, California native and current Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen to play one year for Reedley College before moving on to the University of Wyoming.
