The Learner's Edge w/ Dr. Katie Berlacher & Dr. Jenna Skowronski

Dr. Katie Berlacher, MD MS is the Associate Chief of Education and Director of the Women's Heart Program for the Heart and Vascular Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, as well as the Program Director of Cardiovascular Fellowship and Chair of Medicine at the UPMC Magee Womens Hospital.  She is the current Chair of ACC's Annual Scientific Sessions, member of the Health Equity Task Force, past chair of ACC's Lifelong Learning Oversight Committee and past president of the Pennsylvania ACC Chapter.  She leads numerous faculty development efforts and regularly publishes and speaks about adult learning and medical education, as well as women's cardiology, cardio-obstetrics and health equity.   Dr. Berlacher is a graduate of Duke University and The Ohio State University College of Medicine.  She completed her Residency, Chief Residency, and Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  She also holds a Masters Degree in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh.   


Dr. Jenna Skowronski, MD is an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is obtaining her Masters of Science in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh.  She plans to pursue a career that allows her to combine her passion for Advanced Heart Failure, Women's Cardiology, and medical education.  She serves as a committee member on ACC's Heart Failure and Transplant Council as well as on the program committee for Heart Failure for ACC's Scientific Sessions.  She is also a committee member on AHA's CLCD for Women's Health and Acute Cardiac Care and General Cardiology Committees. Dr. Skowronski is a graduate of Princeton University and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.  She completed her Residency, Chief Residency and Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Fellow.
