💥 Join me today on the podcast as I exhort: DEPRESSION is robbing many Christians of an abundant, joyful life in Christ! Today, we will be looking at the correlation between the false doctrine of "once saved /always saved" and DEPRESSION among Christians.
When you believe that you have "eternal security" no matter how you live, you will have no problem acting out and avenging your frustrations, traumas, and pains on those who caused them. Lord Jesus commands us to: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:44-45).
Unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, and a sense of hopelessness are the heart and root of depression. Romans 6:8 teaches that when the mind is governed (ruled) by the flesh, it is death, but the mind governed (ruled) by the Spirit is life and peace. When your flesh dominates your mind, there won't ever be any peace in your life, and depression will sink in! Only death shows up! When the mind is stayed on self, on the cares of life, on the wrongs committed, and the injustices that one bears in their soul, death comes 'a knocking! This is why the Bible tells us to protect the heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the issues of life (see Proverbs 4:23). In essence, the Holy Spirit is telling us: "Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life."
The Bible also teaches that if we don't forgive, God won't forgive us. But that dangerous doctrine of "once saved /always saved" says you will inherit the kingdom of God no MATTER how you live! If we do not give our cares over to God and let Him avenge our wrongs, the mind that is governed (ruled) by the flesh will always send you on a crash collision course with that Lake of Fire! Lord Jesus gives the cure for anxiety: "Don't worry about your life and seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness" (study Matthew 6:25-34).
When the mind is stayed on ungodly, unforgiven thoughts, rather than the things of God, they will take control of your life, and DEPRESSION and SPIRITUAL DEATH will set in! Be of good cheer and sin not!
