Matt Axton is not only a joy to chat with, he’s also the son of one of the smoothest voices in folk / rock / country music Mr. Hoyt Axton. He is also the grandson of the songwriter behind Elvis Presley’s first #1 hit “Heart Break Hotel”, “Queen Mother of Nashville”, Ms. Mae Boren Axton. I’ve always been a fan of his father’s music and acting, even when I didn’t realize it because of
the songs Hoyt wrote for other artist. Think “Joy to the World – Three Dog Night and “The N No Song – Ringo Starr”. So when I saw Matt Axton come across my social media feeds I had to reach out. Matt responded quickly, with “heck yeah let’s do this”.
Matt is a fulltime traveling musician with a voice as smooth and rich as his father. Like his dad he also has a wide variety of styles he performs while on the road. He is also a prolific songwriter and host the Tahoe Joy Festival in Tahoe, CA every year. During of conversation Matt coved so much about his musical journey, his family legacy and standing on his as a musician / songwriter while also honoring his father Hoyt and Hoyt’s fans that love his songs.
