He explains that we become dependent on these painful emotional experiences, and that form of dependence can develop into symptoms of depression, anxiety, violence, and extreme avoidance. A devout Christian, Dr G weaves in his own faith-based experience to explain that simply possessing faith and deep spiritual beliefs isn't enough to break that addiction to emotional pain.
