Should The Wizard of Oz be remade?

When I first heard that New Line Cinema was in the process of doing a Wizard of Oz remake, like many people, my initial reaction was “No.” Why are we doing this? In my mind, The Wizard of Oz is a classic and does not need to be remade. I have been watching the 1939 version for literally as long as I can remember.  However, as I thought about it more, my opinion started to evolve to think that maybe it’s not the worst idea in the world.

In this episode we’ll talk about the history of the Wizard of Oz, its numerous remakes and adaptations (because this one was not the first and most definitely will not be the last), and the lasting legacy of the 1939 version of the classic.
