Have you heard about the black and bi-racial heroes who broke into the NHL?
As a kid, Dean Barnes Ph.D started collecting hockey cards with spare change his Dad gave him. Dean is a Black Canadian, who grew up in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, at a time when not many players on the ice looked like him. His collection grew. In August, 2021, he managed to collect the rookie cards of most of the nearly 100 Black and biracial players who have appeared in at least one NHL game.
Through intimate conversations, we will share the story of 100 Black and biracial players who played at an NHL level. Each episode starts with a card, but there story always goes much deeper.
