Stanley Roberts talks with financial planner Jake Rivas about Robinhood 

Not your typical financial planner, Jake Rivas’ obsession with wealth management emerged from his experience putting himself through college. This helped develop his passion for helping professionals make smart, educated choices with their money.  Growing up in Lubbock, Texas meant memories of more than just cowboy boots, tumble weeds and sand storms. It meant realizing that money could be a source of anxiety for many families, including his own. He believed if he could learn to tackle managing finances, then he could take away some of the worries of being an adult. Now his mission is to take the fear out of financial planning and provide real life solutions for the clients he serves. Jake’s magnetic personality is a perfect fit for his bi-weekly podcast, where he reviews financial articles, financial tools and helpful money tips, all with the focus of helping people make smart choices with their money. Very active on social media, Jake uses these new media lines of communication to connect with millennials and young families to make financial advice and planning accessible, fun and easy to understand.  A graduate of Texas Tech University, Jake holds a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, Professional. Jake is also appointed with the IRS as an Enrolled Agent, helping clients with income tax planning and preparation. He is a licensed health and life insurance agent and holds FINRA series 7 and 66 securities licenses.  Jake has one fur-baby; a lab named Gloria. In his spare time, Jake loves to travel, exercise, watch movies and go thrift shopping. He also curates financial education seminars to local universities and small businesses.
