You can always tell when two Nigerians are in the room with each other... In this case that happens to be me & Heather.
I was lucky enough to be joined in the studio by the amazing Heather herself and if you listen closely, that accent should tell you she be original naija babe. This one no be fake o so any nonsense we suppose skin you alive well well... Shey you understand?
Sorry. Queen's English. I forget where I am sometimes but nevertheless, Heather reminded me how fun it can be chatting it up with your fellow countryman and we had a lot of fun talking about issues so dear to her heart.
As you know, Heather is Gay and speaks openly about her sexuality and involvement in the LGBTQ community. Being a Nigerian you can tell that mix isn't befitting to the usual stereotype associated to sexuality when we talk about Nigerians and africans as a whole but Heather is an advocate in breaking down these barriers and opening the eye's of those who have formed their own misconceptions and stereotypes concerning those who identify as members of the LGBTQ community.
Behind that fun, bubbly, funny personality, Heather makes it clear that all that glitters is not gold. Having being diagnosed with Schizophrenia, her life is a little different than the average adult and her mental health is something she is openly passionate about. She uses her social media platforms to raise awareness as well as to educate those who aren't very familiar with mental health disorders like hers and how she does not let such things define who she is. This episode should open the eyes of those who may be dealing with mental health issues in the dark as Heather brings to light the truth and realness whilst being fun and quirky with all that she goes through!
