Don’t force a child Guess who went to an event at the Catholic Church So I got invited for an event called confirmation at the Catholic Churches, a friend said her child was getting confirmed and she will love me to come . So I went and it was a different experience on its own , you know the Catholics have their own doctrine which is amazing by the way So it was time for the events and parents were getting their wards ready , and while this was going on a woman was shouting at her child and I quote “are you stupid? What do you mean by that? You must be crazy “ she lost sight of where she was and the child was crying , I couldn’t take it I had to stand up and go meet her .. madam what is the problem, and she said can you imagine this stupid child said she doesn’t want to get confirmed.. I turned to the child who was crying seriously and I said hello sweetie why did you change your mind, you know your mother has being planing for this day, then I realizes she was only confused and needed explanation which the parent didn’t give I said to her , my darling what you are doing here today isn’t for your mother or your father you are doing it as an acknowledgment to God your creator, I told her she was only doing what has being a catholic doctrine so she shouldn’t feel forced. Now she cleaned her eyes , I asked her do you like being a catholic she said yes Aunty and I said then this act here today is you confirming you are proud of being a catholic. She said Aunty can you walk with me to the front , I turned to the mother and she said pls help me madam , I told her to smile and be happy because it’s a special day for her , you need to see this child she became so excited and smiling (lol) I felt so good solving that problem. But now to the real gist , parents and guardians don’t always feel because you are the parent then the child has no say in the decisions you make in their lives . Please always carry the child along, talk to them about the cause for the things you are about to do which I voles them. If not a child will feel you are forcing them to do what they don’t understand and it doesn’t end well cos eventually it will lead to resentment..
