Story text
A group of Chilean farmers, known as the "seed guardians", are working to save traditional crops from the past by collecting and preserving once-forgotten seeds. They aim to protect these seeds from being completely modified, as modern crops have changed significantly from their original forms. The farmers also believe they can learn a lot from their ancestors' farming methods, such as how to plant and harvest the seeds correctly and the best time of year for growing each crop. The crops, including corn and tomatoes, were previously grown by the Mapuche community but are now being cultivated again. Fine dining restaurants are collaborating with the Chilean farmers, and some of the seed guardians are also working as chefs. They predict that many unknown varieties of crops still exist, including over 200 types of tomatoes.
