Story Text

Tee ist in vielen Teilen der Welt ein beliebtes Getränk. In Nordafrika gibt man Minze hinzu, im Nahen Osten Kardamom, und in den USA trinkt man ihn kalt. Trotz dieser regionalen Unterschiede gilt Tee immer noch als sehr britisch. Im Vereinigten Königreich hat Tee eine lange Geschichte, die im 17. Jahrhundert anfing. Im Jahr 1784 wurde durch eine Änderung der Steuerpolitik Tee zu einem täglichen Getränk. Davor war er ein Luxusprodukt. Im 18. Jahrhundert liefen alle weltweiten Tee-Exporte über London. Deshalb war die Stadt das Zentrum des Tees. Die britische Art der Teezubereitung ist nur eine von vielen, aber sie ist ein wichtiger Teil der britischen Identität.
