A Doctor, a Death Sentence, and a Rotten Tomato Heart

In the very first episode of the Read & Roast Podcast, we’re diving into Echoes of Fate: From Rebirth to the Last Heartbeats—and right out of the gate, Chapter 1 gives us a doctor who lacks bedside manner, a protagonist who takes sarcasm to new heights, and a heart described as a “rotten tomato.”

In The Beginning of the End, our narrator finds himself sitting across from a sweat-drenched doctor who, in the most casual way possible, tells him he’s going to die—soon. As if that wasn’t dramatic enough, the doctor also throws in a bonus diagnosis: two fractured ribs from excessive coughing. (Medical science, what’s good?) What follows is a blend of existential dread, dry humor, and the protagonist questioning if this is his fate… or just really bad luck.
