Using my own story of operating in a niche organization, I explain how we realized our assets were better suited to corporate and individual funding rather than foundation funding. Delving deeper, I introduce "funder mapping," a tool we employ in my Power Partners formula to determine potential funders based on your unique organizational assets. Understanding the different "funder lenses" – how foundations, corporate partners, and individuals perceive your organization – allows for a strategic approach to fundraising. I walk you through "asset mapping," the process of identifying what your organization can offer to various funders.
