I understand that fundraising is a deeply personal and vulnerable process, frequently triggering our nervous systems. By integrating executive coaching tools, understanding various fundraising styles, and practicing awareness and choice, I believe we can tackle the challenges of fundraising more effectively. I emphasize that even in those tough moments, we all have the power to shift our narratives and energy. In this episode, you will learn: The Role of Time and Resistance in Fundraising: I explore the common challenges in fundraising and acknowledge that scarcity of time can indeed be a real issue, but also that fundraising's discomfort often allows time to be used as an excuse for inaction. Fundraising as a Personal Experience: I argue that fundraising is deeply personal and often activates our nervous systems. I discuss how activities like rejection, managing up to supervisors, and continuously validating our worth can trigger our nervous system and evoke feelings of vulnerability. The Importance of Recognizing Emotions in Fundraising: I explain the importance of acknowledging the feelings triggered by fundraising and providing tools to handle self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
