Toilet Radio 590 – The Mudvayne Episode
It's a very special episode this week as we're joined by Chad Gray of Mudvayne to talk about the band's reformation, new material, and having the pieces of your life come together. Skip to 37 minutes into this episode to hear Jordan's excellent interview. To start the show it's me and Jordan ranking the tiers of nu metal, talking about the forgotten history of Snot and Sugar Ray, discussing Dave Mustaine's decision to cover Metallica on the final Megadeth record, and talking about how Ian Watkins got got in prison. Folks... It's a good one.

Toilet Radio 588 – The Dungeonmaster (ft. Liz Layne)
This week Jordan is joined by returning champion Liz Layne! You'll remember Liz from our episode on Trick Or Treat or from her many other cool podcasts and projects. This time we're talking about The Dungeonmaster (1984), a horror anthology of sorts run by the notorious Charles Band of Puppetmaster, Evil Bong, The Gingerdead Man, etc. etc. infamy. This one HEAVILY features W.A.S.P. in their hard partying prime. It also heavily features Richard Moll from Night Court as an evil wizard. Listen in as Jordan and Liz talk about "little feller" horror, this film's connection with Drab Majesty, and forgotten dime store erotic slashers like Zipperface. Folks... it's a good one.

There's only one episode of the October Spooktacular left. Sign up to the Patreon to hear the bonus episode in which me and Jordan cover Cronenberg's misunderstood masterpiece, eXistenZ. Join us next week as we get back to your regularly scheduled podcasts about heavy metal.

Toilet Radio 587 – The Brood (ft. Joaquin Stick)
The October Spooktacular continues! This week we're joined by the Toilet's own Joaquin Stick to watch David Cronenberg's most divorced movie! We're watching The Brood (1979), a simple tale of twisted little homunculi burst from the external sac of a hateful women and hellbent on beating people to death with tiny hammers. We've got pseudoscientific cults, slammin' 70s style, hard-drinkin' grandmas, proto-men's rights activism, misogyny, and bloody fetus licking! Overall, Cronenberg was not in a great place when he made this movie! That sucks for him but we had a great time talking about it. Folks........ it's a good one. Join us next week for The Dungeonmaster (1984).

Toilet Radio 586 – Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell
The October Spooktacular continues as we check out BLOODY MUSCLE BODY BUILDER IN HELL (a.k.a. The Japanese Evil Dead). Shot on a camcorder over a period of seven years and finally released about seventeen years after first starting, Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell is a mostly one-man labor of love. This one was written, directed, edited, starring, financed, and special effects all by Shinichi Fukazawa. If you've ever poured a ton of time and effort into creating a derivative metal album that will be listened to by maybe a dozen people, this is the movie for you. Join as we talk about extremely low-fidelity film quality, dodgy action shots, incredible stop-motion special effects, and unabashedly loving the thing that inspired you. FOLKS........ it's a good one. Join us next week for Cronenberg's The Brood (1979).

Toilet Radio 585 – Dark Match
The October Spooktacular continues as we sit down to watch Dark Match (2024), a Shudder original horror film about pro wrestling in late-80's Canada. This one is directed by Lowell Dean (Wolf Cop), starring Ayisha Issa (Brick Mansions), Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead, Trevor in Grand Theft Auto V), and Chris Jericho (Sturgis Motorcycle Rally). Dark Match is a simple tale about a crew of wrestlers invited to perform at an off-the-grid private party that quickly becomes a satanic nightmare. It's kinda like regional wrestling meets Green Room and also Mortal Kombat. We're talking about grisly special effects, extremely dark lighting, wildly shifting tones, and Chris Jericho's time at the Steven Seagal School of Acting While Sitting. Folks... it's a good one.

Toilet Radio 584 – The Keep
The October Spooktacular is upon us yet again. Each week this October we'll watch a different horror movie and talk about everything that makes it worthwhile. This week we're watching Michael Mann's (yes, that Michael Mann) bizarre second major motion picture. The Keep (1982) is a World War II period piece set against the Carpathian mountains as Nazis invade Romania and discover a fortress built not to keep things out, but keep them in. Propelled by a sick ass Tangerine Dream soundtrack and visuals you will not find in any other 80s horror, this is a unique picture. Is it as good as Thief, Collateral, Heat, or Miami Vice? Absolutely not! The production of The Keep was a tragicomedy of errors but the finished product is still very much worth your time. Lets talk about what happens when a five star director makes a two star horror flick.

Toilet Radio 582 – Comedy Metal
Since the very first power chord rang out through the atmosphere, musicians have longed to combine distorted guitars with dumb jokes. This week we're exploring the music and comedy. We're going from the origins of court jesters to mid-century novelty hits to four decades of comedy metal. Sometimes it works! Most of the time it does not. Bands featured here include GWAR, Green Jelly, Psychostick, Piledriver, Raised by Owls, Killitorous, and much, much more. Put on your chucklehats and watch us lean against a brick wall while we perform a tight 60 on this week's show.

Toilet Radio 581 – Post Metal
It's time that we sit down and hash out the most important issue of our time: what exactly *IS* post metal? On this jam-damn-packed continuation of our subgenre miniseries, Jordan and I discuss our lengthy experiences in the post metal scene and try our best to hammer some square pegs into round holes. We're talking about looooooooooooooong songs with non-conventional structures and trying to figure out what post metal guys think pop music is. Bands featured on this show include Neurosis, Burst, The Ocean, Cult of Luna, Isis, Pelican, and Jesu (among many others). Folks, it's a good one.

Toilet Radio 580 – Dani Filth is my HR Manager
This week on Toilet Radio: We start the show with a bummer by discussing the Brent Hinds’ unexpected passing but we quickly reverse course by talking about a guy beating off at a KoRn concert. James Hatfield wants to sell you high-end Metallica-branded professional construction equipment. Ronnie “The Rat” Radke lost his lawsuit against Anthony Fantano, sued the wrong Anthony Fantano in the process. Finally, Cradle of Filth have done the impossible: they’ve exhausted my appetite for drama. Folks, it's a good one.

This week's show can be summed up in one simple sentence: Duh nuh nuh nuhnuh duh nuh nuhnuh diggidydiggy nuh nuh nuuuuuh. That's right, this week is all about GROOVE METAL. We're taking a chunky riff and making it stank. Join us as we talk about the origins of this now mostly-forgotten phase of metal. We're talking all things Max Cavalera, the godfather of groove metal. We're talkin' White Zombie's white-hot days of commercial success with groove metal. And, of course, we're talking about Pantera getting their pull in the realm of groove metal. Other bands featured include Fear Factory, Nailbomb, Lamb of God, Byzantine, Pissing Razors, and Brand New Sin. FOLKS.... It's a good one.

This week your boys are continuing our safari across the sub-genre plains. We're exploring the prickliest of all heavy metal sub-genres with BLACK METAL. From the first-wave of punk-influenced jokesters to the second-wave of No Fun Club dorks to the third-wave of genre experimentation and beyond. This is all very serious stuff, so I am told. We're talking about Sarcófago, Ulver, Windir, Vreid, Chthonic, Wolves in the Throne Room, and a whole ton of other notable acts in our quest for grim and forbidden knowledge. Folks… it’s a good one.

Toilet Radio 576 – Imodium Equals Poop
This week on Toilet Radio: Dave Mustaine announced that Megadeth is the latest in a long line of elderly metal bands to lie directly to our faces and say they're calling it quits. Sure thing, pal! Brett Hinds, formerly of Mastodon, is still watching old Mastodon performances on his phone late at night and commenting regrettable things. Mammoth Grinder is touring and it'll be the last one "for quite some time"? Kirk from Crowbar will need to perform sitting because his back is all junked to hell. The guy from Attila and the guy your 10-year old cousin watches on YouTube are beefing. Finally, Slipknot is selling their catalog for a reported $120 million dollars. How in the world does that make sense? We investigate!

What are the attributes that distinguish power metal from other subgenres? And, most importantly, why is Joe so hostile to power metal? All of this and more answered on this week's show. It used to be that there was heavy metal and there was hardcore punk and nary shall the twain meet. That is, until thrash metal started making waves and punk bands decided... hey, wouldn't it be tight to use some of these sounds? Enter: Crossover thrash, the cross-cultural event of punk and metal joining up to create the foundation of modern metal. How did we get here? What became of this once-influential subgenre once everyone incorporated the ideas into other sounds? And what was the deal with Fearless Iranians From Hell? We explore on this episode. THIS WEEK ON TOILET RADIO: We're talking about the life, legacy, and final performance of John "Ozzy" Osbourne. Phil Fasciana nearly died in France - Perhaps revenge for the homeless crackhead he claimed to murder years ago? Alex Terrible got the piss beaten out of him at a bare knuckle boxing event, prompting us to ask, “where the hell is your manager?” Bobby Liebling, the funny old man that had a viral video, is having problems touring other countries due to… his past sociopathic criminality? This is the first I’m hearing of this! Our nation’s boomer rockers are leading the charge by ending Summer tours, something I’ve been predicting for a long ass while. Finally, Mayor “Diamond” Joe Quimby declared an official Shadows Fall Day for Springfield. FOLKS.... It's a good one.

Jordan gave me a simple prompt: "How about a show about heavy metal?" and now it has turned into three episodes covering early 80s US heavy metal, late 80s heavy metal, and now, heavy metal across the world through the 1980s. This week we're talking about the Canadian, German, Swedish, Danish, and English heavy metal bands that defined the 80s and cemented a then-nascent sound into the foundations of the music we love today. We got Thor, we got Heavy Load, we got Raven, we got Mercyful Fate, we got Warlock, and we got Helloween. Folks... it's a good one.

Toilet Radio 570 – The Golden Age of American Heavy Metal
On a recent episode we talked about the primitive, early days of American heavy metal. This time we're talking about the juiced-up, oil-drenched, muscle-bound glory days of American heavy metal. The United States grabbed the mantle of heavy metal from Europe and made it louder than ever. Trash and hair metal made waves across the globe, and heavy metal was good as hell. We're talking about some of our favorite heavy metal sounds from 1985 to 1989 with Fifth Angel, Sound Barrier, Racer X, Joe Satriani, Dokken, Liege Lord, and much more.

Toilet Radio 569 – The Katatonia Interview
This week on Toilet Radio we're talking with Jonas Renkse of sad boi legends Katatonia! We were just talking about these guys! Jordan and Jonas talk about only wanting to listen to sad music, concerns for visa troubles when attempting to tour the United States, making the transition from death metal vocals to actual singing, taking on newer, younger band members, and warming up with Ratt and Quiet Riot. It's a great interview, skip to 24 minutes in to hear it. ALSO on the show: Brent Hinds left Mastodon after 25 years and now doesn’t have anything kind to say about his old crew. Sharon is beefing with bands again as her opportunity to do so rapidly closes forever. Ronnie Radke is cancelling-cancelling WHO? It’s Predator vs. Predator as his new schtick is dropping dimes on smaller musicians that are just as gross and predatory as he is. Whoever wins, we lose. Folks, it's a good one.
