Hello there and welcome to Racehorse Movies!
In this podcast from TheNeverPress two film fans, Graham and Luke, take a racing sheet from last week, pick a horse name from that sheet for each other, and from that horse name pitch a movie idea!
Our intrepid pitchers can add dream directors, stars, composers, best boys, stable boys (maybe not that last one!) to flesh out their pitches and get them projected onto your mind cinemas for your enjoyment!
The horses are at the starting line, the pitches are in! Join Graham and Luke for Racehorse Movies!

This week Graham and Luke squeeze themselves into some fetching green tights (a pair each, not both stuffed into one), and deliver up some bang for your buck with an anthology pitch for projection onto your Mind Cinemas! Settle yourselves down and get set for three tales, all linked together by a cursed pair of leggings...we have technicolour circus hijinks, Robin Hood giallo nightmares, and hair rock comebacks! Join us and discover how finite the list of tight-based occupations is, share a quick yearning for a Dirk Bogarde or two, and find out exactly how many Russell Crowes we can stuff into this pitch...spoiler alert - LOTS! Alllllso, If you fancy an anthology double-bill, then check out Starlight Stanley from Season 1!

We hope you are all suitably recovered from the terrors of last week's Halloween Special, and ready for another visit from the roamin', ramblin' Mind Cinema! This episode, Graham and Luke bring some feel good, barbershop-based shenanigans for you all to enjoy....after they have finished a quick foray into the realms of genetically mutated super soldiers, and taken a little stroll down serial killer boulevard. What advantages would having a lion's paw instead of a hand bring to hairdressing? Can we squeeze a stealth ThunderCats pitch in? Or indeed a Delroy Lindo?? Tune in to find out!

Boo!!! That surprised you all didn't it? Here's another surprise, if your trembling hearts can take it?! Yes, it's time for the RHM Halloween special! Huddled up in the back of the travelling Mind Cinema on a desolate moor, Graham and Luke ignore the baying of wolves, the incantations of dark practitioners, and fire out two horror pitches for projection onto your Mind Cinema screens! First up is the tale of a group of friends on a gruelling ascent up a mountain, made more dangerous by the fact a killer lies in their midst...and then we go way back to the Great Depression for our second pitch and follow a bloody trail through the Dust Bowl, in the wake of a strange creature hungry for fame, flesh and power...

Welcome back lovely listeners, to episode 4 of Season 3, where The Mind Cinema traveling roadshow barrels forth, like ol' Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express! This week Graham and Luke don their fedoras for a noir-esque procedural set in a TV studio...and then slowly over the course of the episode swap their felt hats for tin foil ones, as MK Ultra, the CIA, and experiments on mass obedience start to take root in the pitch - has Flloyd spiked the tea urn again in a fit of pique?! It's the perfect time of year to get spooked, so come join us for a televisual descent into the many mouths of madness....if you dare!

This week we kick things off with an extended couple of reviews, give a belated tribute to the spectacular Gene Hackman, and narrowly miss an impromptu Bob Seger serenade - and that's all before the pitching even kicks off! When it starts, boy does it kick, courtesy of Statham's size 12 stomping boots all over your Mind Cinema screens! That's right, Graham and Luke continue the trend of 'Jason Statham trade-based action movies' and turn the bestubbled punch machine into a lumberjackin', ex-marine who'll stop at nothing to protect his patch of forest - including indulging in a spot of bear-taming and chainsaw-kata, what a ride!

This week the Mind Cinema barrels onwards, setting its sights on green pastures, rolling hills and the White Cliffs of Dover. Graham and Luke get all post-war and take us back to 1949 for a gentle, life-affirming Powell and Pressberger-style tale of an ageing cartographer on the run, mapping the very same route King Charles II fled across centuries before...Come with our two pitchers and revel in bucolic glory, feel the grass between your toes, and lets all ramble along in a story that would snuggle up nicely with Harbour Vision, from Season 1 - a double bill to warm the soul!

Hello there you lovely listeners, we are back, and boy have we missed you all! After a catastrophic inferno at the Mind Cinema (courtesy of a haunted film reel, pitched in season 2!), Graham and Luke have dusted the soot off themselves, combed their singed hair, and taken the Mind Cinema out on the road while your cinema undergoes some serious repairs - as if mere flames could stop our two pals of pitchin' plenty! To kick off this leaner, meaner Racehorse Movies format we (barely) resist pitching a sequel to Lovin' Jukebox from Season 1 and instead begin our shiny new season with a 1950s set tale of a talented young man who is taken under the spell of a malignant Jukebox...Pull up a seat, wrap yourself in a blanket, and sit back while we project a few ideas all over the nearest wall...it's time to start Season 3!!

This week in Episode 8, Luke dons his pith helmet, slings his rifle over his shoulder and marches us deep into the dark, sweaty, surreal heart of the Amazon Rainforest for an adventure crammed full of gold, greed, madness and folly...settle back in your seats and hear the speakers of the Mind Cinema tremble with the sounds of the flora and fauna! Graham pulls us back from the brink of forest based insanity, and brings a three layered sandwich to his pitching picnic, the first slice: a surprise Marvel pitch (cool it, Feige, we've lawyered up!), the filling: a moving sports drama, and the top slice: a very welcome visit from an old Podcast friend, who finds himself slap bang in the middle of a Jerry Bruckheimer action thrill ride!

This week, in a first for the Mind Cinema we receive a special delivery from our new friends at the Cinecittà Di Bologne...a mysterious box full of unassembled reels of film, a paper edit, and an invitation to assemble them into a semblance of a movie...who better to take on the task than our very own Graham and Flloyd 'the bud' Cotton! What secrets lay within the spools, and have we accepted a dark force into the walls of the projection booth...?? Luke, on the other hand, has a mangled VHS he's rescued from the recreation room player that he needs to make some sense of - and keeps the paranormal ball rolling with his tale of a serial killer stalking the rain soaked streets of Chicago, pulled right from the shelves of a 1990s Blockbuster!

Come on in and make yourselves comfy in the Mind Cinema, we have a couple of humdingers ready for projection! This week Luke will be pitching a film about a slick, psychopathic businessman days away from a Really Big Deal - he's hopped up on more blow than a hurricane, and teetering on the edge of a complete meltdown...will a mysterious painting be the thing that tips him over the edge?! Graham keeps the pedal to the metal for his movie - with a Coen-esque chase across 1920s America. A bank robber and a young girl are thrown together by fate and forced to R-U-N-N-O-F-T from a villain more tenacious than a T-1000...there will be bullets, blood, music, magic and a whole lot of heart....but will there be redemption...?

This week in the Mind Cinema Graham serves up a visceral, visual delight with a love letter to one of his favourite filmmakers...expect an epic, story hopping fever dream chock full of montages, poetry and smoking - what a tribute! For his pitch, Luke has brought along not one, not two, but three reels to assemble for projection. Amongst the spools of celluloid are a sequel to a 90s classic, a generation spanning rivalry between two brothers and a morally bankrupt NASCAR comedy - we even throw in a bonus submarine fantasy movie and a skateboarding underdog story, what a haul!

In Episode 3 the Mind Cinema rings with the sound of a gavel hammering as Luke pitches a military thriller ripped right out of the 1990s. Giving us enough corruption, conspiracy, and courtroom showdowns to make Rob Reiner raise his eyebrows, and displaying a knowledge of law so loose it would make Lady Justice blush. For Graham's movie, he dials up the paranoia and transports us smack bang into the 1970s, where no-one can be trusted, and nothing is quite as it seems! Expect more twists than a Curly Wurly as he begs the question...who....or what is Raymond Tusk?

The Mind Cinema is truly in the pink this week with a couple of pitches that could have been hewn from the same rock....or should that be asteroid?! Graham goes medieval (emphasis on eval!) on our asses, tools up, lops the head off a wolf, plays the lute - and that's all within the first three minutes of his movie, things only get more weird and wonderful from there! Next up Luke takes the bloodied gore baton with an accidental spiritual sequel to Graham's pitch, set in space, where a crew of roughnecks embark on an easy-peasy haulage mission to a distant, powerful moon accompanied by a slimy company-man - what could go wrong?!
