Have brunch with the girls and talk all the latest news and shade with the best Black & POC led Queer live radio show on the planet! Queer State of Mind is a weekly popular culture, news and lifestyle talk show from the lens and perspectives of Queer People of Color and their allies and friends. Airs weekly Saturdays at 12 Noon on Radio Free Brooklyn. Hosted by Saidue Karmo, Deron Dalton, Micah Peterson, Orie Givens and Marquis Green with a variety of special guests, visitors and featured cocktails. Radio Free Brooklyn is a non-commercial community freeform Internet radio station, streaming original content by artists and residents of NYC’s most populous borough 24/7. We live in an age in which the media is too often used as a means to constrain and restrict rather than express. Radio Free Brooklyn is building a communication infrastructure to strengthen the community of artists and residents of NYC’s most populous borough. Our Mission: We chose Internet radio not only because it is the most accessible medium for many, but because radio can be so many things: a subversive apparatus, a political cudgel, a prank, a ritual, a bond. We broadcast not the commercial dross that clogs the terrestrial airwaves, but original programming as diverse as the programmers themselves – stories, sound art, radical ideation, comedy, sex, and experimentation yet unheard. We are a community organization - all are welcome to participate.

Episode 811 Part 2: Interview with Eliel Cruz
Orie leads the second hour of QSOM featuring an interview with our special guest Eliel Cruz. Eliel is a prolific organizer, activist and communications leader. He co-organized the historic Brooklyn Liberation March: An Action for Black Trans Lives where thousands gathered to advocate for trans youth in 2020 and 2021. He was recognized in Out Magazine’s #Out100 list for both his work as the former Director of Communications at the New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP), and for his pivotal activism in pursuing justice for Layleen Polanco, a 27-year-old Afro-Latinx trans woman who died in solitary confinement on Rikers Island in June 2019. Eliel talks about the power of activism, how anyone can get involved and do their part, and what it means to work within such powerful movements. Second hour bops include a throwback from Whitney Houston, Sophie Ellis Bextor, TLC and more.  This show aired live on Radio Free Brooklyn on 3/9/2024.
