"When you finally get bookies interested in women's sport, we've made it" - Monali Patel [Cricket]

In this episode we speak to ex-Canadian Cricketer Monali Patel. Monali has been involved in cricket from playing, commentating, coaching and now educating coach trainers. After her playing career she transitioned into coaching co-founding the Kitchener-Waterloo Cricket Academy. She has had stints commentating for Cricket Canada as well as at the franchise cricket level. Monali was recently appointed ICC Coach Master Educator for the Americas region. We discuss her varied cricketing journey growing up in Kenya and how the coaches she encountered shaped her philosophy. We also discuss the struggles of growing the women's and men's game in Canada and what likely needs to happen in order to build a strong foundation. Editor's Note: There was a bit of a lag on the video call so at times, there's overlap in the conversations. Unfortunately this is the challenge with remote recording.
