The custody dispute over John Victor came to a head, and Jones introduced the first of many White Nights. Jim Jones introduced a poison test while armed guards stood by to make sure everyone drank. Debbie Layton defected as Jim Jones' conspiracy thinking was fueled more by Donald Freed, Mark Lane, and Joe Mazor - and at the same time Leo Ryan was finally ready to visit Jonestown.
