Naveen Ganglani's Path: Sports Multimedia

Naveen Ganglani is a "sports multimedia" professional, or what we would define as a sports content creator for all kinds of media. He is a sports writer and reporter for Rappler, a podcast host for The Navs Effect, and an author of the book "Nowhere to Go but UP."

He joins the Project Offbeat podcast to discuss his processes in media, including breaking news and choosing the right medium. He also shares his thoughts on what he loves about basketball and media work in the Philippines, as well as his perspectives on athletes taking up mics and creating their own podcasts.

List of questions include:

  • How did you diversify into various media?
  • What is your process in breaking news in sports?
  • How do you make sports news come your way?
  • Best and worst aspects of media work in the Philippines?
  • Time allocation among your different media roles?
  • When is it time to leave and start your own media venture?
  • Discuss your book on the UP Men's basketball team
  • Do you think sports narratives ever get tiring?
  • Why do you think basketball is so beloved by Filipinos?
  • Nav's take on athletes taking up the mic
