This failing student had an absent father, alcoholic mother, brushes with Jersey mobsters and was homeless at 15. His college band opened and closed for Sly and The Family Stone.
Years later, he lost 20% of his brain, was in a coma and near death as his restaurant empire was expanding. While Jeff Ruby's story begins in New Jersey, his story ultimately belongs to Cincinnati.
