Today we're getting into the details of what's happening in Nigeria as President Trump has recently threatened to send in the US military if they don't get a handle on the targeting of Christians in the country. Jacob Zenn joins us to talk through some history of these groups, challenges facing the Nigerian government and where we might be able to go from here.

The Russian cost of trying to take Pokrovsk is staggering, and growing
Today we're looking into Russia's ongoing Pokrovsk campaign. Ukrainian General Syrsky in speaking with the Kyiv Independent and New York Post suggested that their plan now is to inflict as much damage on the attacking Russians as possible, ideally even off-setting their recruiting. That's a big ask but we're also seeing Russia pay a hefty price for every little advance in Donetsk.

Today we're joined by two Soldiers of the Ukrainian 429th Unmanned Systems Regiment 'Achilles'. We talk about their work intercepting Russian drones, the challenges of that mission set and how it's changed throughout the war. This conversation is a part of an ongoing fundraiser to help this unit acquire more interceptor drones for this air defense mission set.
Today we're looking into a new series of tactics rolled out by a Russian analyst on how to survive Ukrainian FPV drone strikes. He says the idea of playing dead or freezing in place no longer work given the volume of drones on the battlefield and the quality of the drone cameras. Instead he suggests scattering, find cover, cover each other and then maneuver. We look at a few examples of this successfully being employed in Ukraine by Russia.
Today we're looking into the Russian assessment of the ongoing fight for Pokrovsk and what it will mean going forward. Overall, they seem to be writing it off as complete as the fighting is still very clearly occurring throughout the city. We look at a few different Russian analysts that are preparing for the next battle that they hope will secure the remainder of the Donbas.
Today we're looking into the ongoing situation in Sudan where the RSF has been on a killing spree for more than a week. Nathaniel Raymond of the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab says compares this to the Rwandan genocide and says that more people may have been killed in the last ten days than in the two years of war in Gaza. Meanwhile, attacks are spreading and the RSF claimed to have shot down a Sudanese supply aircraft earlier today.
Today we're looking into the recent nuclear test suggestions presented by President Trump and how Russia is responding to it. Overall, they seem to believe it will be a test of the systems rather than warheads but argue for a one-upping style response regardless of what happens. We're also seeing some Ukrainian reinforcements enter Pokrovsk but it's not clear yet if their goal is to create a buffer for exfil or actually try to take back portions of the city.
Today we're looking into the US military buildup in the Caribbean as reports are coming out that President Trump has been presented three options for the of military force against the Maduro regime. Reuters did a great investigative set using satellite imagery to show how much has changed as US forces piled into the region and the New York Times talks about the possibility of striking Venezuelan military targets to shake Maduro from power.
Today we're getting into an update on the overall situation in Pokrvosk and further north in Dobropillia. We have more footage from Ukraine showing the GUR landing a few days ago as well as confirmation that house to house clearance is underway in parts of the city as Ukraine locates and hunts down Russian infiltrators. Further north, Russia reports a Ukrainian attack near Dobropillia that they say has initially been successful and risks further Russian gains in that direction.
Today we're looking into reports of a Ukrainian GUR helicopter raid near Pokrovsk. We have little to no information coming from Ukraine and Russian sources were quick to announce that the helicopter had been shot down and all soldiers killed. We run through a few different sources to paint a picture of what's being reported.
Today we're looking into the recent statements from President Trump and other US officials that we may need to intervene in Nigeria due to the killing of Christians. The center of that issue is the terrorist organization Boko Haram who targets anyone and everyone that isn't them.
All indications are that these strikes and the military campaign are set to continue
Interview with Ben Connable and Colin Clarke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTut5ts77us
The United Nations has accused the US of committing war crimes during our ongoing campaign in the Caribbean calling on those involved to be investigated and prosecuted. Meanwhile, the strikes continued overnight amidst reporting that President Trump may have approved hitting targets inside of Venezuela. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/un-human-rights-chief-u-s-strikes-on-alleged-drug-boats-unacceptable https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/31/politics/pentagon-strikes-pacific-drug-trafficking https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bipartisan-senators-call-hegseth-release-strike-orders-alleged-drug-boats-caribbean https://www.justsecurity.org/123717/war-powers-resolution-60-drug-cartels/
Today we're discussing the military-led operations in the Caribbean that are focused on cartels and the Maduro regime. We're joined by Colin Clarke and Ben Connable to discuss what we need to keep in mind as this spirals towards a new war, other options available to policymakers and what to watch for in the coming days. Be sure to check out the source article published by the Soufan Center at the link below.
Today we're looking into what we know so far about the ongoing killing in Sudan at the hands of the RSF (Rapid Support Forces). In just the last few days, the humanitarian hub of El-Fasher fell to the RSF and their elements have moved into the city clearing it of all men, women and children.
Today we're looking at the continued military strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific against alleged drug boats. Yesterday the White House held a classified briefing but did not invite any Democratic lawmakers and today, the Pentagon left out their lawyers and intel professionals from the briefing at the House. As of now, the legal justification for these strikes boils down to 'just trust me' and that's not going over well across the government.

Today we're looking at the developing situation around Pokrovsk where Russia continues to press forward with small groups while attacking the edges with armored assaults. Meanwhile, Ukraine is using drones to hunt down Russian elements in the city and prevent them from attaining a strong foothold. We also have Putin suggesting a short term ceasefire in Pokrovsk so foreign journalists can come to document the situation and another large drone and missile attack carried out overnight.
Today we're looking at the deteriorating situation in Pokrovsk where Russian drones have largely cut off the city making resupply and casualty evacuation nearly impossible. Some intense footage from the 25th shows the process some are required to go through to reach the front and move casualties out with the constant threat of drones and artillery overhead.
The future of war is happening now, hopefully we're paying attention
Today we're joined by Sam Scanlon to discuss the future of drone warfare and what lessons are important for the US military to take away from the ongoing war in Ukraine. Sam recently authored an article for the Modern War Institute titled, "Beyond FPVs: Learning the Lessons of the Ukraine War—All of Them" which will be linked below. Sam is a U.S. Army veteran and co-founder of Vyryn Technologies, a defense firm that accelerates battlefield adaptation and defense modernization across the U.S. and NATO.

Today we're looking at the news that Sweden has agreed to sell 100-150 Gripen-E fighter jets to Ukraine in what would be the largest airpower deal secured in Ukraine's history. Zelensky hopes the first platforms will arrive within a year but Sweden has that timeline closer to three years. Meanwhile the situation is turning dire near Pokrovsk as Russian soldiers continue to press into the city center and Ukraine appears to have counter-attacked north of Pokrovsk and east of Lyman in recent days.
Today the US announced the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group to US Southern Command to support ongoing counter-narcotics and counter-terrorism operations. This marks a major uptick in military firepower deployed to the region raising the continued question of if this is about drugs or we're actually going after Maduro in Venezuela.
