Sariah and I dive into her story as a Chinese transracial adoptee raised in a Mormon family. We get into her relationships with her adopted family, the complexities of navigating mental health, perfectionism and what happens when you're sexually assaulted by a family member as an adoptee in Mormonism . We discuss Sariah's struggles on her Mormon mission, the challenges of knowing she was a lesbian and not being believed when she came out to her Mormon family. We mouth off about our least favorite adoption teaching in Mormonism and we talk about what she's done to heal from her trauma.
