In this episode, I speak with Caden Sagendorf, a transracial adoptee, about his unique adoption story and experiences growing up in a predominantly white Mormon family and being placed into foster care. Caden shares his journey from being adopted at birth to navigating his identity as a Black and Latino individual in a community with few people of color. He discusses the challenges of growing up in a religious environment, the impact of racism and microaggressions, and his struggles with mental health. Caden also opens up about coming out as gay, the complexities of leaving the Mormon church at a young age, the importance of advocacy for foster care and adoption rights.
