Portent Tide Aerial Imaging company officially started in 2022. Our background is in environmental science. We provide high resolution aerial data collection for land resource management professionals and research scientists. The initial work took place in Costa Rica, 2021. We worked in and visited several research facilities and reserves to meet biological and behavioral researchers to discuss how they go about their profession and how they make key decisions as it relates to their field of study. These interviews provided an important insight in building Portent Tide Aerial Imaging.

This podcast is with Efrain Escudero PhD (c) and Jeffrey Lackmann. The podcast took place at Las Cruces Biological Station in southern Costa Rica in June of 2021.

Efrain is completing his PhD into the interaction between fungi and coffee plantations - particularly focused within Costa Rica. Jeffrey Lackmann is completing his Masters degree thesis into fungi growing within the leaves of coffee plants (endophytes).

Episode 3 with Estefania Fernandez PhD C

Estefania Fernandez is in the 5th year of completing her PhD dissertation into facilitating the process of tropical forest recovery, particularly through focusing on the decomposition process of logs and patterns related to this. This conversation took place at Las Cruces Biological Station/Wilson Botanical Gardens in June of 2021. A location operated by the Organization of Tropical Studies.

Episode 2 with Dr. Gloriana Chaverri

Dr. Gloriana Chaverri is an Associate Professor a the University of Costa Rica and a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. Gloriana completed her PhD in bat mating systems. Her lab (Chaverrilab) is based out of Golfito in south western Costa Rica and explores research related to ecology, behavior and sensory information - primarily related to bats.

Episode 1 with Rodolfo Quiros Flores at the Organization for Tropical Studies' Las Cruces Biological Station

Rodolfo Quiros Flores is a biologist with a focus in botany and is the logistical manager of the Las Cruces Biological Station. The station is situated within the Wilson Botanical Gardens nearby San Vito in southern Costa Rica. The Las Cruces Biological Station is connected with the Organization for Tropical Studies, one of three biological stations operated by OTS in Costa Rica.
