S2 Ep. 6: How to Be Confident When Speaking with Natives w/Sam Coates

Welcome back to the sixth episode of Season 2 of the Polyglot Perspective Podcast!

When learning a language, reading, writing, listening and speaking tie into our learning journey. Among the four, many people believe speaking is the most difficult. Many learners lack confidence, and don’t know how to go about talking to native speakers in their target language.

Sam Coates is a university student studying business analytics and accounting. Sam was born in New York but moved to Jamaica as a toddler (as his family is Jamaican) and returned to the U.S at 14. Some of his hobbies include doing track, playing soccer among other sports. Sam is currently studying Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Spanish. Sam also has an Instagram (@samslanguageprogress)  where he posts videos of him talking with natives.

In this episode, Sam Coates discusses his personal experience, tips and tricks on how to be confident when talking to native speakers.

This episode highlights Sam’s story through his perspective, the polyglot perspective.
