Feedback from Church Growth Project-Excerpt from Meeting and Inviting Training

Any data with membership growth being stagnant at best and trending downward points to Christians lack of desire to meet new people. Backing up at bit, it’s either Christian lack of desire or Christian unwillingness.

Over the last 30 days, I only had two churches express interest in learning how to make new friends. I’m not going to put any emotion behind this statistic. As a business consultant, I see parallel results with small business owners. Small business owners would rather maintain the status quo of average performance than take actions to grow their businesses.

If you’re listening to the episode or watching the mp4 video, your first thought might be the training cost is so high, no church can afford the training. The cost as the reason for not wanting to offer meeting and inviting training to members was unsubstantiated. Meaning, I actually went out on a limb to offer a reduced training session at no cost, but the congregation still turned down the offer. I really cannot offer the training for free but I just wanted to see what the response would be.
