On today's program, Dr. Al Gross joins hosts Shahzeb Malik and Seth Tucker. Dr. Gross is running as an Independent to represent the state of Alaska in the United States Senate. A current orthopedic doctor, commercial fisherman, and lifelong Alaskan, Dr. Gross has been endorsed by former Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang and his nonprofit Humanity forward.
Things we discussed include his father’s experiences working closely with former Alaskan Governor Jay Hammond, commonly known as the father of Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend (2:42-4:00). This led into more discussion about Universal Basic Income (UBI) and what it would do for the country as a whole (4:01-12:05). He also answered some questions on healthcare reform, highlighting faults in our healthcare system that have been exposed due to COVID-19 (12:05-30:05).
