Gamaliel was a renowned Rabbi, powerful Pharisee, and member of the esteemed Sanhedrin. He taught Saul as a young man and he used his voice to calm the storm that raged in the wake of the Apostles' wild behavior after Jesus ascended and left them the Holy Spirit. Gamaliel had the wherewithal to step into the fray and provide some much needed insight and perspective, even when his own beliefs, generational history and fellow countrymen did not agree.
