Hi everyone welcome to Pitching Podcasts, I’m Jeremiah Isley, your host for today’s pitch.
Before we get started if you’ve enjoyed any of these trailers, please let other folks know about our little show, and take a minute to give us 5 stars on Apple Music or now Spotify. Thanks!
Let’s take a little walk down memory lane. Shall we?
It’s the early 1990s, my family and I are on a trip to Wisconsin, one night my dad, my brother and I flip on the television and happen upon a very bad science fiction movie. But we quickly notice that there is an outline of what looks like theater seats and a guy with two robots along the bottom of the screen. I can’t tell you what happened after that except that the three of us found ourselves rolling on the floor (quite literally) as Joel and the bots mercilessly cut into this ragged piece of American cinema. And thus, my love for Mystery Science Theater 3000 or MST3K was born. We tuned in every chance we’d get, then bought up any tapes or DVDs we could get once the show was seemingly canceled in 1999. For years I kept the show alive by hosting MST3K Mondays in my home, inviting anyone and everyone and we all shared countless evenings laughing together.
It seemed that the show was the product of a bygone era for well over a decade until the mid 2010s when the show’s creator and original host Joel Hodgson went on record as saying there may still be some MST3K left in the tank. Apparently there were some legal maneuvers that had to take place and once they did, Joel was free to fire up the Satellite of Lo ve and launch another unsuspecting guy in a Gizmonic Jumpsuit into space. And launch they did.
The show came roaring back on the Netflix platform and completed 2 new seasons with new cast members, a ton of high caliber cameo appearances and of course some of cinemas worst offerings. Currently the show is in the middle of releasing its third comeback season on a brand new streaming platform “The Gizmoplex” built just for the show!
And that brings us to today’s trailer. During the Netflix years, the show’s baddy “Kinga Forester” had a gaggle of henchmen known as the Skeleton Crew. She had hoped that they would be a “race of atomic supermen who would conquer the world” but basically just do low level henching and also they play in a band.
When the Gizmoplex launched Kinga informed (the most recent host) Jonah that she blew up her previous moonbase “Moon 13” and that the Skeleton Crew were likely fine, or maybe it’s flooding down there… She’s not too concerned though.
And that’s where today’s pitch comes in, we’re pitching a series that follows the Skeleton crew as they attempt to make their way to safety in the freshly destroyed moonbase.
I’m happy to present The Skeleton Crew: Escape from Moon 13!
Flush them the movie!!
As usual, we don't claim to own any of the properties, characters etc. This is fan fiction for entertainment and pitching purposes!
