Traveling Solo, But Never Really Alone

When I went out on my first solo trip, I was fascinated by the way budget backpacking seemed like a rite of passage. A tradition to create a unique travel experience, and share backpacker knowledge that is passed down from traveler to traveler over many years. We will explore the idea that even while traveling alone, you are never really alone. How these connections can lead to so many doors opening like future work, learning new traits and practices, and even lead to the most memorable travel adventures.

Todays episode is audio from a webinar I presented for the Nomdaic Network in June 2021.

Travel can give you moments and time to stop and reflect about life, on where you come from, and where are you going. On this episode we catch up my my good friend Michael Rubenstone. In 2020 Michael packed his family into a mobile home and drove them across the country for a one month road trip. It was on the trip he started to reflect and focus on the question of, What Makes A Home?

Trek Of A Lifetime

We all have met people who dream of quitting the nine to five rat race, for a life of more adventure and travel. Courtney Condy is one of those lucky few who actually went for it, and in 2015 she found herself on a trek of a lifetime to the Everest Basecamp in Nepal. It was April 2015, and on the 25th of that month, Nepal was hit by a devastating 8.0 magnitude earthquake, that rocked the city as well as the surrounding mountain ranges leaving thousands dead and even more injured. Suddenly a trek of a lifetime became quick reminder of how fragile life can actually be.

Quarantine In Quito

I first met Danger Dave Suske when I was checking into my dorm room at the Community Hostel in Quito . That was in 2018, and good Ole Danger Dave was still there in 2020 and when the Ecuador Lockdown came roaring though the capitol. It would leave many travelers stranded asking a lot of questions.
