*SOUND NOTE: We apologize for the slight echo that can be heard from 1:10 to 4:30. It DOES go away, but we understand if you’d like to skip ahead to 4:30 to get past it. Welcome BACK to the Peas of Mind Podcast! It's been a while, and a lot has happened since we've been away. From our own personal life changes to a global pandemic, it's been quite a year. What hasn’t changed is our passion for plant-based foods and cooking. Since most of us have been at home, we figured now would be as good a time as ever to pop into your feeds with a bit of joyful distraction, inspiration, and veg-cooking motivation! In this episode, we talk about what we've been up to amid the pandemic, how our cooking habits have (or haven't) changed, new recipes we've tried, and staples we're sticking with as we try to avoid all cooking stresses in an already insanely stressful time. If you’re looking to mix it up while you’re staying safe at home, here are some of the recipes we mentioned in the show: Vegan lemon Ricotta pasta: https://frommybowl.com/vegan-lemon-ricotta-pasta/ Chickpea chocolate chip cookies: https://frommybowl.com/chickpea-chocolate-chip-cookies/ Chickpea salad sandwich: https://minimalistbaker.com/chickpea-sunflower-sandwich/ Coconut lime rice with red beans and mango (original source: Thug Kitchen): https://www.bigoven.com/recipe/thug-kitchen-coconut-lime-rice-with-red-beans-and-mango/2214757 Southwestern-style quinoa salad: https://tasty.co/recipe/southwestern-style-quinoa-salad Roasted eggplant curry: https://tasty.co/recipe/roasted-eggplant-curry Peanut butter oat balls: https://www.purplecarrot.com/plant-based-recipes/peanut-butter-banana-oat-balls-with-chocolate-chips Vegan cornbread: https://food52.com/recipes/31697-no-fuss-vegan-cornbread Have your cooking habits changed at all amid this pandemic? We’d love to hear about your experience. Email us at peasofmindpodcast@gmail.com or tweet/DM us @peasofmindpod on Twitter or Instagram. Thanks so much for listening. If you’re enjoying our show, drop us a rating on Apple Podcasts. It helps fellow vegetarians, vegans, and the veg-curious find the show. Thanks to Milan Gary for our cover art (www.milangary.com) and Bensound for our royalty-free intro song “Clear Day” (www.bensound.com).

Ep. 28 - From Pyramids to Plates Part 2- The Evolution of U.S. Government Dietary Guidelines
US dietary guidelines have changed dramatically over the last 100+ years. What can these changes tell us about the US’s ever-changing economy and culture? In this episode, we’re continuing our review nutrition guidelines by taking it back to their humble beginnings. From color wheels, to pyramids, to pie charts INSIDE of pyramids, it’s been a bumpy ride to make it to today’s dietary recommendations. Wondering what the US dietary guidelines look like today? Check out part 1 of “From Pyramids to Plates.” Got a question, topic suggestion, or just want to say hi?
