As our parents age, we might worry about when it's our turn to care for them. And sometimes that time comes much earlier than we are ready for. Victoria Reese talks to Lauren Miller about her journey as the primary caregiver for her father, Dave J. Miller, during his final years living with COPD.

Lauren’s ambition, intelligence, strength and drive is part of her family legacy. So when her father’s battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) pushed her from being his daughter, mentee, and colleague, to being his caregiver, life line and source of strength, the effect was jarring. Of all of the things a father can teach his daughter, being his caregiver is a lesson that none of us are ever prepared for.
