In this heartfelt episode of the Paso Robles Podcast, I sat down with Steve and Holly Teixeira, founders of 17 Strong. Their son, Ryan Teixeira, was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at 18. Despite the pain and challenges he endured, Ryan envisioned something bigger than himself — an organization that would give Victory Trips® to young adults battling life-threatening illnesses, a group often overlooked by traditional wish-granting foundations.
Ryan’s dream became reality through 17 Strong, and although he passed away on March 4, 2017, his vision continues to change lives. In our conversation, Steve and Holly share Ryan’s journey, the meaning behind the number 17, and how his resilience and passion for life turned into a movement that now gives hope, joy, and unforgettable experiences to others walking similar paths.
I personally love their story — not only where they’ve been, but where they’re headed. Their strength, faith, and dedication to honoring Ryan’s legacy are deeply inspiring.
