mommy issues! daddy issues! we all get issues!
Our relationship with our parents can be very complicated. They can be a source of great happiness and comfort but also anger and resentment. They also manifest in the way we think about ourselves, how we think and behave, and our relationships with other people more than we want to admit. The way that I was raised especially influenced my certain tendencies such as perfectionism. Especially in the Asian community, it can be difficult to talk about our relationship with our parents beyond cracking jokes about how the only way we communicate is through giving each other plates of cut fruit. But it’s important to address how our relationships with our parents can manifest in us to understand how we may also need to grow, learn, and heal. This episode is one very close to my heart, so let’s get into it.
