Welcome to Parenting Thoughts Podcast with Andy & Christie Kirk. Today’s episode is about the 7 C’s of Parenting.

Competence:

Recognize that God has uniquely gifted each child. In Proverbs 22:6, we are reminded, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Confidence:

We need to instill confidence in your child by reminding them of their identity in Christ. Philippians 4:13 assures us, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

Connection:

Build a strong emotional connection with your child by emphasizing the importance of love and forgiveness. Colossians 3:13 encourages us, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.

Character:

Character is everything and it is so important for us as parents to help to shape our children in this area matters

Contribution:

Teach your child the biblical principle of stewardship. 1 Peter 4:10 urges, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."

Coping:

Guide your child in navigating life’s challenges by grounding them in faith.

Control:

Balancing autonomy and submission is always a challenge
