
The year is 1985. Home computers are a novelty, and the internet and social media may as well be a world away. But you, just an average Joe or Jane, manage to obtain a BBC micro computer from your job.
From the outside it seems like nothing more than a rudimentary chunk of mostly useless hardware. That is, until, you receive a message from someone claiming to be from the 16th century.
Somehow, some way - before the internet age - you find yourself communicating back and forth with this person from the past. And stranger still, someone from the year 2109 reaches through - allowing you to communicate with someone from the 22nd century.
That’s what Kenneth Webster of Dodleston, Cheshire, UK claimed happened to him, anyway.
Could it have been a tech savvy ghost? A highly adept prankster? An alternate reality game, before the advent of the internet? A real time traveler? Aliens??? Tech savvy highly adept ghost alien pranksters from another dimension??
All these theories and more have since been explored, but the mystery of the Dodleston Messages remains unsolved.
