Having good grades and getting a job that provides excellent benefits are a couple of the most important steps you can take in your life. Cut back on student, car, and credit car loans if you can. Prioritize your spending to see what's most important to you. Also, by putting money aside for your retirement pre-tax takes into assumption that your income will be lower after 65, thus your taxes will be lower when you withdraw. As Sela mentions in this episode, financial advice should be personalized to your own life. One plan does not work for everyone. And sometimes, life has some unexpected complications, like medical issues, divorce, death, etc. We're all just trying to do our best in this world. If you're able to help someone else in this crazy world, try to do so. Accept advice whenever it’s offered by those who have more experience than you, but learn as much on your own so that you can make the best possible decisions in your life.
