Many parents don't want to have routine or a strict schedule because they don't like to feel chained to following it every day and some mums feel a little stressed thinking “gosh if baby needs to nap at 10am what happens if they don't, it's more relaxed to just go with the flow…we prefer to follow baby's cues...”
While it is easier sometimes to go with the flow because of the sense of freedom, many babies struggle with that. And those struggles are displayed in disturbed nights, erratic and short naps and a cranky child day to day.
In today's podcast I want I explain why routines benefit all the family, not just your child and hopefully you will take away some positives from it and who knows maybe you may try getting into a little routine and find it works and you have a baby that takes great solid naps and no more cranky toddler!
I would love for you to share this podcast with all your parent friends and let them know I am here to help you with my podcasts and more!
Don't forget to rate and review the podcast so it reaches more parents and carers out there on their child rearing quest and does bring a little spring to my step each day when I receive those likes!
And please let me know if there is a specific topic or question you have that you would like me to record a podcast about! I will respond to you personally and let you know when it will be released!

I often hear parents report that their baby is like Houdini and performs the most amazing escape act and they just don’t seem to like the swaddle so they stop using it, after many attempts and purchasing many different brands.
My take on this is that often those swaddles are either not the right size or more often have not been wrapped correctly.
If your baby can get out of it then it was too loose. Now I will caveat that by saying it cant be too tight and legs need to be free to lay in the “froggy” position” to avoid hip dysplasia.
In this weeks bite sized podcast I share my favorite swaddles and why!

When can it occur?
Hang on to your hats guys because this may happen as early as 15 months. So grab your ear pods and listen to this weeks podcast where I explain all about managing these sleep hurdles and tips to make it all easier for you!

Reflux. It is something that many, many babies experience and in some cases suffer quiet harshly from. Today I speak with a reflux expert, Emma, from The Reflux Tummy Mummy. During her extensive training and own personal experience with her son who suffered from reflux she answers my questions and explains how to manage these times to make life easier for your and your baby and to get the answers you need.
This podcast was an extremely insightful time for me and I know it will help you especially if you are going through the "oh its just a normal phase" comments from your friends and health care providers...

No one wants to hear a baby cry least of all their parents so when it comes to sleep training many parents fear it, say it's not for them, think it is filled with forcing a baby to do something they just can't do and will cry endlessly.
I am here to tell you something different in this weeks podcast. It is not any of this at all. Now I will caveat that with saying infants (0-5 months it is a different story. This age sleep needs to be supported and I do not do any sort of formal sleep training until 5 months)
Teaching your baby the skill of falling asleep independently will be gold dust because this is a skill that we all need into adulthood. Yes, there are unicorn babies out there that have no issues at all and many need some help.
Other need help. They need to be supported and guided and in this weeks podcast I explain how you can do this without using the term known as cry it out.

Wow wee! This was an EPIC conversation today I had with the amazing Montserrat Corsino. Founder of Mana Integrative Health.
She has a world of knowledge about pregnancy health and of course post pregnancy and in this first conversation we had she spoke in depth about nutrition for the breastfeeding mother.
I was blown away by the information she shared, I had no idea about a lot of it and even though I am way past those breastfeeding days there are some practices that would still be very helpful to to now.
This is a podcast not to be missed so if you are expecting or are in the season of breastfeeding, pop on your head phones and have a listen, I promise you will learn a lot!
Here is a link to a blog post Montse made about electrolytes. The recipe is at the bottom and also HERE

Mums found it hard but it was worth it….
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of assisting numerous families in achieving peaceful and restful sleep routines within their homes. It's been evident that many mothers, and some fathers – but let's be honest here, primarily mothers - have harboured apprehensions about embarking sleep training programs.
The thought of potential tears and the idea of adjustments to current sleep patterns required often loomed large and felt overwhelming.
In this weeks podcast I dive into this topic deeper, tell you what I have seen and learned from these experiences and how this has helped me go forward to support YOU!

Firstly What Is A Dream Feed?
A dream feed is a method used by some parents to offer a late-night feeding, usually between 10 and 11pm, initiated by you just before you may be going to bed yourself. The idea is to feed your baby while they are still sleepy and not fully awake, however, it's important to note that not all babies will benefit from a dream feed which I explain in this podcast.
I tell you my experience as a mum offering my babies a dream feed, i tell you the pros and cons of a dream feed and the safest way to offer the dream feed should you wish to do it.

WOW! This episode was something else, so powerful and full of knowledge I really wish I had know 9 years ago when I had my first baby.
Let's be clear now, I knew nothing about functional medicine or what it really meant however after talking with Montse from Mana Intergrative Health I was bowled over by the intricacies of it and how it REALLY can help us fatigued, exhausted and busy mums.
Monste explained how sleep deprivation can impact us on a health level deeper down than just "feeling tired", and answered the questions I had about how functional medicine can help especially when breastfeeding...by getting to the root cause of the fatigue and yes of course you may have just given birth and in recovery from this and now raising a small human and breastfeeding and while that takes it's toll eating the wrong foods also impact negativly on those fatigued feelings and emotions. And boy, do us mums have a lot of emotions when we become mum!
Monste gives us some insightful tips on what foods best to eat when breastfeeding and how she can help not only new mums but us seasoned mums when we are juggling motherhood, school runs, work and the home.
1000% give this episode a listen and watch out for the next 2 we have installed for you... I am chomping at the bit myself to hear them!

💥 3 ways to stop night feeds!
There comes a point in parenthood that you start to wonder “is my baby ready to drop night feeds and if so how do I do it”.
You may be a sleep wreaked parent reading this, broken from waking up to 10 times a night and finding yourself feeding baby back to sleep because it is the only way your baby will go back to sleep, you may be that parent who has an 18 month old waking in the night demanding milk and you are wondering does she really need it? But if I don’t give it to her she IS going to scream the house down…what can I do?
This weeks podcast I am going to explain 3 ways you can drop night feeds and when it may be appropriate to do so and of course the science behind waking for feeds and how that can lead to a vicious cycle to continuingly wake for feeds in the night.
I would love for you to share this podcast with all your parent friends and let them know I am here to help you with my podcasts and more!

As new parents, the journey from birth to 16 weeks can pass super quickly but for some it can go slowly, be really hard and exhausting. It is filled with joy, many questions every day and night and, of course that goes with a few sleepless nights to boot!
Sleep is a crucial aspect of your baby's development and as I explain in my Newborn Workshops, it is all about supporting that sleep, NOT sleep training.
You may start wondering how to establish healthy sleep patterns at this age and ask what a schedule looks like for a 4 month old. In this weeks bitesized podcast I explain the sleep needs of a four-month-old, common challenges, and some practical tips to ensure both you and your little one get the rest you need so you feel good about getting up and starting each day with an energetic smile!

As parents, we all strive to ensure our little ones get the essential sleep they need for optimal growth and development and of course to feel rested the following day so they are alert and no meltdown by 9am..!
While techniques like sleep training, establishing nap schedules, and bedtime routines are often discussed and implemented, the influence of nutrition on a baby's sleep is frequently overlooked. This is a major part of my sleep plans I create for my 1-1 families.
Join me in this weeks podcast as we explore the intricate connection between breastfeeding, formula feeding, introducing solids, and how they affect the quality of your baby's sleep.
