Padre’s Hour: Spotlight on Youth Engagement – Million Minutes and Walsingham House

Fr. Sam Randal spoke to Daisy Srblin, Director of Million Minutes and Joe Beattie from Walsingham House about youth engagement.  They both shared their experiences during the pandemic and continued efforts to engage youth in Brentwood and across England.

Daisy joined Million Minutes in August 2020 as our first full-time Director. Daisy has worked across advocacy, policy, and campaigns at Christian Aid, Child Poverty Action Group, the Fabian Society, and Gingerbread, the single parents’ charity. Daisy also previously worked as a Senior Researcher to a London MP. She holds First-Class BA and MA degrees in Modern British History from University College, Durham and Queen Mary, University of London, on an academic scholarship. Daisy grew up in the Croatian Catholic diaspora community in London, is of Croatian and Lebanese heritage and lives in the parish of Hertford.  Million Minutes

Joe Beattie  - Retreats, Hospitality and Facilities Co-ordinator, Walsingham House.  Welcome to Walsingham House at Abbotswick – Brentwood Catholic Youth Service (bcys.net).  Joe is in his third year as the Retreats, Facilities and Hospitality Co-ordinator.  He is originally from the Parish of Our Lady and All Saints Basildon, and first came to Walsingham House on Canvey as part of a Confirmation retreat with the parish when he was 15 and spent a volunteer gap year on the 2013-14 Team. He then completed a law degree at Nottingham University and before moving to Abbotswickm, he spent a year working for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
