According to Wikipedia, friend zone or friendzone is a term used for the situation in which one person in a mutual friendship wishes to enter into a romantic relationship with the other person, while the other does not.
Eto daw yung metamorpical place where people end up when someone they are interested in only wants to be friends.

Meron ba kayong kakilala or kaibigan na nangyari sa kanila yan, or baka ikaw din eh napunta na sa ganitong situation, Yes the friend zone is very real and getting out of it or moving on can be one of the most difficult experiences you might ever have in a relationship.
Mas masakit pa daw ang ma-friend zone kesa ma busted. Kapag na busted ka ng nililigawan mo – most of the time, di mo na sya makikita or di ka na magpapakita pa at makikipag usap pa ulet sa kanya.
Pero kapag na friend-zone ka – you will still be in a relationship with that person – a relationship na hindi hihigit sa gusto mo sanang mangyari sa inyo, a relationship no more than just friendship.
Ito yung isa sa mga pinakamasasakit na salitang maririnig mo, kahit pa gaano pa ito ikubli ng mabulaklak at malumanay na pananalita. It begins with “it’s not you, it’s me” and then the words, “but I think I just see us more as friends”.

It is a form of rejection just like any other, kahit pa gaano ito ka mellow na sabihin sayo. It really hurts ang magmahal ng ganito, sabi nga sa kanta.
